Today at Wyong Racecourse two lead-up races to the Gold Coast Magic Millions Race Day majors will run in Sydney including the 2014 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic, betting tips for which are found below.
There are 12 juveniles in the mix for this year’s $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1100m), the clear favourite and market mover of which is Zoutentant in from $4 to $3.20 through Ladbrokes.com.au.
Drawn in barrier two with top hoop Glyn Schofield in Wyong for the ride, Kevin Moses’s Zizou colt ran second on debut at Rosehill a fortnight ago when beaten 3.5 lengths by Voilier in a run he’s sure to improve on here.
Gets a firmer track today, has a run under his belt, Schofield stays on and the draw is good giving him no excuses to get beaten again on way to the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) on the Gold Coast on January 10.
The other single figure hopes in Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic betting then include the Team Hawkes-trained Wanted colt Surf Seeker ($6), the also unraced Perignon ($6) for Gerald Ryan in barrier four and Single Gaze ($7.50) in the outside barrier but coming off a win on debut.
So will one of these take out the title on way to next month’s more lucrative Magic Millions feature in Queensland?
Or is there an upset at Wyong on the cards?
#2 Zoutentant ($3.20)
We are following the money trail here and sticking with the favourite so salute in the richest race on today’s Wyong card. Think from barrier two on a Good-rated track with Schofield in the saddle again this up-and-coming colt will be hard to hold off as he looks to improve on a second on debut and secure his 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YO Classic bid.
#7 Single Gaze ($7.50)
Nick Olive’s Canberra-based Not A Single Doubt filly is the only one in this field to have enjoyed a pervious turf triumph when she beat home Zulu Royal by a length on debut over 1100m at Rosehill on November 1. Has had six weeks since then to freshen-up and the tip is she’ll be improving and ready to strut her stuff again against a good field. Nicely bred, has big city Saturday experience and while she’s got the outside draw to overcome her class should help her do that.
#4 Chubbz ($15)
Adding value to the first three here is the unraced Bryce Heys-trained More Than Ready colt Chubbz coming off a winning trial at the track over 800m from the start of the month. One of the few with experience, even if it’s just trial experience, at Wyong and is in with a shot from barrier five with Blake Shinn aboard.
