2014 Just Now Quality Betting Tips

Five black-type races are running at Doomben Racecourse this Saturday, including the Listed Just Now Quality (1350m).

A near-maximum field of 15 runners will tackle the $100,000 race, for which there are five single figure hopefuls.

Leading the Just Now Quality betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au is Commanding Wit at $3. The five-year-old mare will carry the minimum weight of 54kg as she jumps from barrier seven with Larry Cassidy in the saddle.

One of only two last start winners, will Commanding Wit justify her favouritism and win the 2014 Just Now Quality or will one of the runners offering lucrative double figure odds storm home and cause an upset? Check out our betting tips for the race below to know who to back on Saturday.

 #1 Tinto ($6

Rex Lipp’s four-year-old mare may be carrying the sole top weight of 59.5kg, which is at least five kilograms more than all 14 of her rivals, however she’s still our pick to win the Just Now Quality. Tinto has drawn well in barrier three with Bridget Grylls in the saddle, who unfortunately cannot claim a weight decrease due to being an apprentice jockey, and is coming off a second place finish in the Listed Travel Associates Classic (1200m) on November 29, where she carried the exact same weight and jumped from the same gate. The mare has placed in two of her four starts over the Doomben track and half of her ten starts on good ground.

#5 Queen Of The Lochs ($8)

The Mick Mair-trained grey mare will carry the minimum weight of 54kg in the Just Now Quality and jump just one gate out from the rails in barrier two with Tegan Harrison to ride. Queen of The Lochs has finished in the first three five of her six times at Doomben and has plenty of success on good tracks. Has run in three fillies and mares handicaps just like this one this campaign alone, finishing third in two and winning one.

#4 Elusive Storm ($9)

Brian Smith’s six-year-old mare is our third pick to round out your trifecta in the Just Now Quality on Saturday. Elusive Storm will jump from barrier nine with Samuel Payne in the saddle, carrying the minimum weight of 54kg. The mare finished sixth in the Travel Associates Classic last time out but was just one and a half lengths off the winner Brook Road. She has plenty of experience over both the track and distance of the race (9:2-3-1) as well as running on good tracks.
