Saturday’s Doomben meeting is chock full of Listed summer racing features including the set weights $100,000 Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) for three-year-olds.

Sixteen youngsters make up the early entries led by Real Saga filly Stroak coming off a win at her home track from November 29.

Runner-up behind Unencumbered in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) this time last year on the back of successive wins to kick off her career, Stroak also ran fifth to that same horse after getting an early check in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) as a juvenile last summer.

She had a disappointing winter campaign in Brisbane failing to finish in the money in any of her three assignments before coming back off a six month spell to win first-up after the time to mature.

Also high up the ratings and in the mix are then the Gordon Yorke-trained Gosford raider Cap Domingo and Troy Hall’s Rosella.

Natural Destiny colt Cap Domingo is out to retain his undefeated status after winning all three of his career starts to date with Sam Clipperton in the saddle at Gosford, most recently in a Class 2 over 1200m on December 4.

Rosella also won her last start, the Hidden Dragon filly improving on a fourth behind Tales Of Fashion in the Listed Lancaster Stakes (1200m) at Doomben in May to beat home some classy types over 1300m on the Gold Coast back in June.

She’s first-up here then and faces some of the same horses she beat home back in her winter win including runner-up Homehill from the Eagle Farm stables of Kelly Schweida.

The progressive Chateau Istana gelding Homehill was runner-up two back behind Fixation in the Listed Breakfast Creek Stakes (1400m) in June and then finished second best again on July 5 over the same track and distance to Limes from a wide barrier 15 of 16 draw.

Also coming off a last start win are the likes of Rockhampton visitor Our Neddy Boy, the Kelso Wood-trained Show A Heart filly She’s Miss Devine, Our Lady Mac from Toowoomba shooting for her third win on the trot, Excites gelding Midnight Allure also from Toowoomba and Magic Albert colt Cloud Consort up from Ballina.

Other notable Gold Edition Plate nominees include Group 3 performed Soldi Domani, the Tony Gollan-trained Vienna Royale who was sixth in January’s MM 2YO Classic, Stuart Kendrick’s Sunshine Coast-trained Little Fighter, stablemate Worthy Cause and progressive Zariz colt Bold Attraction.
