2014 Jungle Dawn Classic Betting Tips

Perth’s Ascot Racecourse hosts a bumper nine-race program for Kingston Town Classic Day on Saturday, one of the key support races being the Jungle Dawn Classic 2014.

The quality handicap clash features a field of 13, this year’s $100,000 Listed Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m) running as Race 5 at 3:00pm (WA time).

Leading the Jungle Dawn Classic odds at Ladbrokes.com.au at a firm $2.50 is the autumn’s WA Oaks third placegetter Real Charm.

The Adam Durrant-trained Reset mare, now four-years-old, has had four runs this time in the most recent of which was a win over 1500m here on November 29 that the bookies are tipping her to emulate as she steps up in class once again.

The other shortest priced in the Jungle Dawn Classic betting markets are then Ascot 1000 Guineas winner My Sister Lil ($4.60) and the Simon Miller-trained Carbine Club of WA Stakes runner-up Miss Rose De Lago ($5.50).

So are these the top three mares you should lock into your Jungle Dawn Classic bets?

Or is there value to be found further down the markets with an upset possible?

#6 My Sister Lil ($4.60)

Nice barrier five draw will give this Snitzel mare the ideal run after she did it the hard way from barrier 12 of 12 last time out when third beaten only 1.25 lengths in the Listed Jungle Mist Classic (1200m).
That race is the traditional lead-up to Saturday and she should improve with a better gate and Ben Paterson staying on. Won the Listed Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m) back in March so will also appreciate the extra metres here off her tremendous first-up run. Fitter this time round and should be very hard to beat.

#9 Real Charm ($2.50)

Deserved favourite after blowing her rivals away with an enormous seven length win over 1500m here on November 29. On the short back-up but should handle that, connections striking while the iron is hot with this progressive four-year-old. She’s proven up to a mile-and-a-half however so whether the drop back to 1400m will be too short remains to be seen. She also has to overcome barrier 12 but if she can repeat what she did last weekend she’ll be right in the finish with the right run.

#2 Arcadia Rose ($9)

Grant Williams-trained Kheleyf mare up in class here after a second in a Benchmark 66+ over 1200m on November 22. Hasn’t raced in black type company since second last (14th) in the Belmont Guineas over a mile back I June that was a disaster run. She didn’t see out the distance, had the outside barrier and walked in over 30 lengths off the winner. Out to atone here and looks to be going well. Needs to handle going from 1200m – 1400m but should be ready to peak.
