Trainer Sam Kavanagh plans to deliver a strong attack on the 2015 Magic Millions in January, taking two talented fillies up to the Gold Coast with him.
Kavanagh plans to run classy three-year-old filly I Am Zelady in the $1 million Magic Million 3YO Guineas (1400m) and unraced two-year-old filly Invincible Dame in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m).
I Am Zelady won her maiden on debut in a Canterbury Handicap over 1250m on October 24. She began well and settled nicely outside the leader, travelling at a moderate tempo. She dashed clear shortly after the turn for home and raced away, finishing three lengths clear of her closest rival.
The filly was then a fast finishing third in a benchmark 72 over 1300m at Rosehill on November 15. She missed the start by some way and was back to last on the fence. After switching off her heels, the filly ducked out under pressure down the straight, missing the win by just half a length.
“I Am Zelady has had a bit of a freshen-up and she will run over 1100 metres on Villiers Day (Randwick, December 13) before heading to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions Guineas,” Kavanagh told Racing Network.
Invincible Dame is an unraced two-year-old but has run two impressive barrier trials in November, missing out on first place by just a neck first time out before winning her second by close to two lengths.
The filly is set to debut in the $200,000 Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic (1100m) on December 18 before travelling to the Gold Coast for the $2 million main event if everything goes well.
“As with all two-year-olds she needs to take her trial form to the races but she will debut in the Wyong Magic Millions, and all being well, she can then go on to the Magic Millions Classic on the Gold Coast,” Kavanagh said.
