2014 Railway Stakes Day Scratchings & Track Report

Today the biggest Perth Summer Racing Carnival meeting takes place at Ascot Racecourse for Railway Stakes Day 2014, scratchings and the latest track report found below.

Angelic Light

A bumper nine-race program, headed by a double shot of Group 1 racing, is scheduled for Perth’s ‘Super Saturday’ starting at 11:57am (local time) and continuing through until the 2015 Perth Cup hopes face off in Race 9 at 5:25pm in the $100,000 Listed Tattersall’s Cup (2100m).

Conditions on the western side of the country are, as is usual, dry with scattered clouds and the track rated a Good (3).

The first of the black type races in Perth today runs as Race 3 at 1:15pm with the three-year-old sprinters facing off in the $100,000 Listed Placid Ark Stakes (1200m).

Group racing kicks off a little later on the card when the three-year-old stayers strut their stuff in the lucrative $400,000 Group 2 Sky Racing W.A. Guineas (1600m) at 3:15pm (Race 6) where the undefeated Disposition is the $2.20 favourite and firming at Ladbrokes.com.au.

That is followed with Race 7 at 4:00pm when a star-studded field of sprinters faces off in the $750,000 Group 1 Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes (1200m), the favourite of which at $2.90 is market mover Angelic Light for Cranbourne’s Robbie Griffiths.

Next-up is the day’s marquee race at 4:45pm, Tasmania’s The Cleaner now back into $4 to win the $1 million Group 1 Carlton Draught Railway Stakes (1600m).
