Lock and Load will be running in the Magic Millions 3YO Classic (1100m) while stable mate Nightcraft will contest the Thomas Jewellers VOBIS Gold Eureka Stockade (1400m).

Both horses are stepping up in class for the first time but Griffiths is confident they’ll be competitive.

Three-year-old gelding Lock And Load is in-form after scoring his maiden at Bendigo on October 29. He will jump from barrier six in the 12 horse 3YO Classic race and is offering odds of $14 to win the race at

“We are very happy with Lock and Load at the moment,” Griffiths told Racing Victoria.

“He ran a great race at Bendigo last start in a maiden, Saturday is a stronger race of course, but we are still confident in his chances.

“He’s made good improvement in training and, although this is up a grade and there’s some good competition, we think he can be competitive and hopefully take out the big money.”

Nightcraft is making just his fourth career start on Saturday after winning his maiden back in June. He finished midfield at Flemington last time out on Melbourne Cup Day and has scored the inside run in the Eureka Stockade. The gelding is paying $12 to win at, behind favourite Profit Share at $3.60.

“He’s in the same boat as Lock and Load in terms of stepping up a grade this weekend,” Griffiths said of Nightcraft.

“He was very good at Flemington last start and finished the race off really well in a distance that was too short for him.

“We are really happy with him at the moment and think with some good form and a good draw that he can be at least competitive. Once again, he’s a really nice horse and I think he’ll go well.”

Griffiths will have one eye watching Perth and one eye watching Ballarat this Saturday as his three horses each vie for success.
