2014 WA Guineas Betting Tips

One of the key feature races on Railway Stakes Day at Ascot Racecourse this weekend is the WA Guineas 2014, betting tips for the three-year-olds’ clash found below.

A final field of 14 is facing off in this Saturday’s $400,000 Group 1 Sky Racing W.A. Guineas (1600m), after the early scratching of #2 Cuanzo (3), the favourite of which in the Ladbrokes.com.au markets is undefeated Reset gelding Disposition ($2.30).

From the Karnup stables of Grant Williams, Disposition shoots for his fifth career win from as many starts as he graduates to Group company for the first time after back-to-back black type wins at the track this time in.

Aside from Disposition, who comes off a one length victory in the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) from November 8, there are just two other single figure hopes in the WA Guineas betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.

The first at $5 is the market mover Outlaw Pete after his fourth win from the past five starts.

Jumping from barrier six, with Cuanzo out, the Trevor Andrews-trained Oratorio gelding was on a winning streak before a disappointing eighth in the Fairetha that he’s out to improve on here.

Occupying the third line of betting is then the rails-drawn Tonto ($8), Lou Luciani’s Onemorenomore gelding having run fourth in the Fairetha Stakes after winning four straight before that.

So are the top three in betting also the top three to lock into your WA Guineas selections?

Or should punters be looking further down the markets with an upset from the likes of Universal Ruler filly Furious Dame ($10) after her third straight win, Williams’ Burgess Queen Stakes winning filly Ideal Image ($16) or even Fairetha Stakes runner-up Rommel ($21)?

#1 Disposition ($2.30)

Is undefeated and the deserving favourite but still at a backable price we’re happy to take. Has a gun barrier (2) and ace hoop (William Pike) who stays on after the duo won the Fairetha Stakes last time out. That was the gelding’s fourth on the trot. Yet to taste defat and with the right run against a class he’s faced before will be hard to hold off again so long as he handles the step up to a mile.

#13 Ideal Image ($16)

Stable mate of the favourite this More Than Ready filly is nicely bred and can follow Disposition up to the line for a WA Guineas quinella for Williams. She has barrier 10 to overcome but the class to do so having won her opening three career starts, including the Burgess Queen where Delicacy ran third, before a third to Delicacy in the Group 3 WA Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m) last Saturday. On the short back-up but is proven over the mile and will be better after her first look at the distance.

#3 Rommel ($21)

Really juicy price on this Neville Parnham-trained Commands colt who improved on some so-so form when running an eye-catching second to Saturday’s favourite Disposition as a $51 outsider in the Fairetha Stakes. While the odds aren’t quite as juicy here they’re still good as he should appreciate a step up in distance to a mile and has a top record at Ascot (7-2-2-0).

Now is the perfect time to discover the benefits of betting online by locking in your Railway Stakes Day tips at Ladbrokes.com.au where a $25 deposit will be matched with a $75 bonus bet so you’ve got $100 to enjoy on the Perth races on the weekend!
