There has been consistent support for Contributer in 2014 Emirates Stakes betting markets and the imported galloper is set to start the Group 1 event at Flemington this afternoon as a clear favourite.
Contributer was purchased by Godolphin after previously being prepared by Ed Dunlop in the United Kingdom and he made his Australian racing debut with an impressive win in the Group 3 David Jones Cup (2000m) at Caulfield on October 18.
The Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) was expected to be the next race start for Contributer, but Godolphin elected to drop him back in trip for the Emirates Stakes and the High Chaparral entire is currently available at a quote of $5 to record a maiden win at Group 1 level.
Hooked is also taking winning form into the Emirates Stakes and he is currently on the second line of betting at a quote of $7.
The John Thompson-trained entire took out the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle on September 17 and he finished a brave third in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Royal Randwick on October 4 before stamping himself as a leading Emirates Stakes contender with an impressive victory in the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) at Moonee Valley on October 25.
Lucky Hussler finished at the tail of the field in his last start at Group 1 level in the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 7, but has found his best form since joining the Darren Weir stable at the start of his 2014 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.
The Husson gelding was narrowly denied in the first three starts of his spring preparation, but he returned to winning form with an outstanding three and a half lengths victory in the Group 3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on October 18.
One of the big drifters in 2014 Emirates Stakes betting markets has been Hucklebuck, who is out to odds of $10 after he opened at a quote of $6.50.
Hucklebuck returned to racing with a win in the Listed Durbridge Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on October 18 and he took out the Group 3 Yellowglen Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day, but punters do not believe that he is capable of backing-up to win the Emirates Stakes this weekend.
Chris Waller-trained Bull Point ($7.50) and luckless Moonga Stakes runner Leebaz ($8) are also available at single figure Emirates Stakes odds, while The Cleaner has been well-supported in the last 24 hours and is into $9.
