2014 Melbourne Cup Exotic Payouts & Results

The Melbourne Cup 2014 finishing order is official with Protectionist saluting for the Germans, the full exotic payouts and betting results for the classic two mile clash detailed below.

Run as Flemington Race 7 at 3:00pm (AEDT), this year’s $6.2 million Group 1 Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) was a truly historical event.

The Andreas Wohler-trained Protectionist became the first German-trained horse to win world’s richest handicap, jockey Ryan Moore was the first hoop since Greg Hall in 1992 to ride two different horses to a Cox Plate and then Melbourne Cup victory in the same year, and runner-up Red Cadeaux became the first triple Melbourne Cup runner-up since the race was inaugurated in 1861.

It was also a sad finish for the race favourite Admire Rakti who died post-race after crossing last in ‘The Race That Stops a Nation’.
