Eloping Leads 2014 Blue Sapphire Stakes Final Field

A small yet classy field of seven three-year-olds will face off in the Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) following the scratching of Chris Waller’s Delectation.

Headlining the field is the Peter Morgan & Craig Widdison-trained Eloping, who will jump from barrier two with Stephen Baster to ride.

The brilliant filly is heads to the 2014 Blue Sapphire Stakes at the top of her game, especially considering Delectation was her main rival.

Eloping, one of the best and most-consistent two-year-olds in Australia last season, managed a tough win in the Group 3 Champagne Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley her last time out.

Co-trainer Morgan said the filly came through the race well and looks ready for another win.

“She always does everything right and she seems really good heading into this on Wednesday,” he told Racing Network.

The Doug Harrison-trained Tudor will enjoy the inside run with Craig Williams after drawing barrier one.

The three-year-old colt has mostly run in minor racings so far, including his last start which was a 1200m SWP that he won under Williams. However he did step up in class for the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) but failed to impress, finishing eighth of ten.

Sultry Feeling will run from the middle of the field for Bart & James Cummings with Hugh Bowman to ride.

The filly failed to place in her last two starts, the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) and Tea Rose Stakes (1400m), but has found success in black type races, taking out a minor placing in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) in March.

Supido will make just his second career start in the 2014 Blue Sapphire Stakes for Michael Kent after debuting last month with a second placing in the Pancare Foundation Plate (1000m).

The colt will jump from barrier six with Luke Nolen to ride.
