Many questioned the five-year-old mare’s entry in the $3 million race back in August, given she had won just three races, the best of which was a restricted Echuca race the previous year.

However this year the mare has taken out a first-up win over 1500m at Morphettville as well as a fast-finishing third in the Listed Balaklava Cup (1600m). She was disregarded by punters her last time out in the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m), offering odds of $61, but managed to come from last in the race to finish outside the placings by just over a length.

Jaensch now has her eyes squarely on the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) this Saturday at Caulfield Racecourse in a bid to earn the mare a Caulfield Cup qualification.

Victory in the 2014 Herbert Power would secure her position in the Cup as the winner is exempt from the ballot.

Albonetti has seen money come in for at for the Herbert Power odds despite lining up in a field that includes three international raiders. She is available for $13.

Jaensch believes Albonetti will be even better suited over the 2400m distance of the Herbert Power.

“She’ll get the extra distance on her ear,” Jaensch told

“She relaxes so well in her work and she’s always given us the impression from day one that she was just an out-and-out stayer, with the bonus of a massive sprint at the finish.

“The owner has always had a dream to go to the Caulfield Cup but if at any stage I had thought she wasn’t up to it then I would have suggested to him that we take a different tack.”

Albonetti will start from the middle after drawing barrier eight with Dean Yendall to ride.

“I think I’ve got her where she needs to be to run 2400 but how she lines up against the rest of them we’ll wait and see,” she continued.

“She’s feeling good and she’s worked as well as she can so we’ll go over there confident that she’ll run best of her ability.”

You could win $3,000,000 on Caulfield Guineas Day for just $3 at this weekend.
