The Caulfield Guineas Day supporting race will run as Race 2 at 1:35pm (AEDST).

There are four runners offering single figure bets in the 2014 Thoroughbred Club Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au led by Earthquake at $2.

The John O’Shea-trained filly for Godolphin will start from the middle of the field with Kerrin EcEvoy to ride.

The three-year-old has placed in all seven of her career starts, including four wins, but will have to overcome a weight of 59kg which is up to four kilos heavier than her competition.

The other runners offering single figure odds for the Thoroughbred Club Stakes include More Radiant ($5), Tawteen ($5.50), and Ygritte ($9).

Will the single figure hopefuls dominate the placings? Or will one of the outside shots offering double digit odds cause an upset?

1st

#1 Earthquake ($2)

You can’t go past the favourite in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes. This filly has placed in all of her seven career starts, which includes four wins. Earthquake is already successful at the highest level after taking out the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) in February. She was unbeaten before April, but even her worst results have brought her home in the money. Third placings her last two times out all-but guarantees she can bring home a placing here.

2nd

#5 Tawteen ($5.50)

Tawteen will get a good start from barrier three with Stephen Baster to ride. This filly enjoyed three consecutive wins from minor races from March to September before managing a third placing in her first black type race, the Group 3 Champagne Stakes (1200m). She looks to be peaking at just the right time.

3rd

#2 Aimee ($34)

Punters are shying away from Noel Doyle’s filly here following a last-place finish in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) her last time out. She can be hit-or-miss, following up wins with bad runs, but she shouldn’t be written off completely. Five wins to her name from nine career starts shows she’s got what it takes. Imagine the winnings off this bet?
