It was the first close finish of the day at Flemington Racecourse, as the third placing had to be determined by photo.

The colt jumped from gate four well, settling in behind early leaders SchnellerForgive And Forget and Kapset.

Schneiller held onto the lead before the home turn, but Stratum Star and Manhattam Avenue edged up to the front of the pack took the lead with 200m to go managing to stay on the inside.

The pair battled it out across the line, with Statrum Star beating Manhattan Avenue home by just a head.

Brad Rawiller did a great job on Stratum Star to take out the 2014 Yellowglen Vintage Stakes and was quick to compliment the three-year-old following the race.

“I was just saying to the owners before we came out how good his attitude is,” the jockey said.

“I galloped him on Tuesday morning and he was just beautiful.

“He’s improving all the time and he’s just got a real nice bit of class about him.”

The battle for third place was just as tight between Kapset, Lazyaxl, and Staviva with just a short head separating all three. Ultimately Kapset took home the third, two and a half lengths back off the winner.
