Forever Loved Heading to Myer Classic after 2014 Blazer Stakes Win

The Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday was an important race for Gai Waterhouse’s Forever Loved.

The four-year-old mare took home the victory ahead of Enquare and May’s Dream, and will be heading to the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) next month on the same course following the win.

Market mover Politeness didn’t jump well, last to move out the gate while the punters’ favourite Suveto wasn’t even seen on the field after refusing to leave the stalls.

Mezeray Miss and Jessy Belle led on the straight but Forever Loved joined the leaders from the outside and hit the front with 200m to go.

Jockey Vlad Duric gave a great ride on the beautiful mare and had nothing but praise after crossing the line.

“She ran outstanding first up,” Duric said straight after the race.

“We had a plan the other day to go quiet, we thought there was going to be more speed in the race than there was.

The jockey noted that a Blazer run was up in the air following following a last place in the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m).

“[Following the How Now] I came back in and said to Gai she ran well you know, she ran last but she ran well.

“So we rolled the dice when we got in today and we did it.

“She always travelled like the winner and kicked on really strong.

“She got a little bit lost up the straight but she’s a lightly raced mare and hopefully she can go on to win another one.”
