2014 Kingston Town Stakes Tips

The Kingston Town Stakes is a key lead-up race to the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) and the Group 3 event will feature a strong field of promising stayers at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

Headlining the Kingston Town Stakes field is Makybe Diva’s three-quarter-sister La Amistad and the progressing stayer is a clear favourite to record her maiden win at Group level.

La Amistad started her 2014 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a fast-finishing third in the Listed Rowley Mile (1600m) at Hawkesbury on August 21 and she has been backed into odds of $2.80 to return to winning form this weekend.

Greatwood has not put a foot wrong in his two race starts in Australia and he is on the second line of betting after he stamped himself as a genuine contender for The Metropolitan with a strong win in the Listed Premier’s Cup (1800m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 30.

He’s Your Man finished third behind Greatwood in the Premier’s Cup, but he has been the best backed runner in Kingston Town Stakes betting markets and is into a quote of $5.50 to take out the Group 3 event.

La Amistad, Greatwood and He’s Your Man are the only horses available at single figure Kingstown Town Stakes odds, but can an outsider score an upset win? Our team of horse racing experts have analysed the complete form for the race to come up with our 2014 Kingston Town Stakes tips.

2014 Kingston Town Stakes

#5 Greatwood ($4.80)

Greatwood led all the way to win the Premier’s Cup at his last start and there is no reason why he can’t make it back-to-back wins in the Kingston Town Stakes. The Manduro gelding will continue to improve as he steps up in trip and will be at peak fitness in the third race start of his preparation.

#4 He’s Your Man ($5.50)

He’s Your Man was far from disgraced when third behind Greatwood in the Premier’s Cup and will likely be better suited by the quicker tempo in the Kingston Town Stakes this weekend. The Cape Cross gelding will be suited by the drying Rosehill Gardens track and will finish in the placings.

#8 Lucky Chappy ($14)

Trainer Chris Waller believes that Lucky Chappy is ready to perform at his best in Australia and he is great value at his current each-way odds if he is able to return to the form that he showed when competing at the highest level of racing in the United States.

There is plenty of great racing at Rosehill Gardens and Flemington this weekend and you can get the best odds for every race with Ladbrokes.com.au.

Sign-up and deposit with the leading online bookmaker to take advantage of their Flemington cash refund and score a free bet worth up to $250 that can be used to back the winner of the Kingston Town Stakes or any other race!
