Go Indy Go Leads 2014 Danehill Stakes Nominations

After originally looking to resume in a Listed race at Flemington on Makybe Diva Stakes Day, connections of Champagne Stakes winning filly Go Indy Go have opted to nominate the star for the Danehill Stakes 2014.

The Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas-trained, Adelaide-based daughter of Bernardini is one of a bumper 23 three-year-olds nominated for this Saturday’s $200,000 Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m).

The $120,000 Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) was initially earmarked for her return to racing this weekend.

Co-trainer Gluyas however confirmed the 1400m first-up was a better option for the Thousand Guineas-bound filly who will take on the colts and geldings in the Danehill.

Six dollar favourite through Ladbrokes.com.au to win the $500,000 Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) on Caulfield Guineas Day next month, Go Indy Go will be ridden by Chad Schofield on Saturday with the Cox Plate winning jockey returning from a 27-meeting suspension.

The next highest-rated hopes in this year’s Danehill Stakes nominations are then the John O’Shea-trained Ghibellines and Chris Waller’s Brazen Beau.

Godolphin-owned Shamardal colt Ghibellines won the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) back in March and races for the first time here since an eighth to Mossfun in the Golden Slipper.

He, like the bulk of the males in the race, heads towards a run in the $1 million Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 11 and pays $21 through Ladbrokes.com.au to win next month’s clash.

Brazen Beau is also first-up here, the son of I Am Invincible last seen running second behind $11 Caulfield Guineas fancy Almalad in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) in Brisbane during the winter.

He pays $15 in futures Caulfield Guineas odds equal will fellow Danehill hopeful Rich Enough for Cranbourne trainer Ken Keys.

Lightly-raced Written Tycoon colt Rich Enough debuted in March when third over 1000m at Moonee Valley before coming back on August 23 catching the eye with a tidy win in the Listed Mitchell McKenzie Stakes (1200m) at the same track.

The two shortest-priced 2014 Caulfield Guineas-bound three-year-olds who are entered for Saturday’s race meanwhile are the Lloyd Kennewell-trained Get The Nod and Robert Hickmott’s Divan both at $13 in the all-in markets.

Adelaide visitor Get The Nod is undefeated with a Morphettville win back home in March followed by the U S Ranger gelding’s good Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) victory at Caulfield a month ago.

Zabeel colt Divan meanwhile also won last time out, the bred stayer taking out a maiden at set weights over 1400m at Sandown on August 27.

Other notable Danehill Stakes hopes include Galaxy Pegasus coming off a seven length win on debut at Geelong, Tony Gollan’s JJ Atkins third placed Brisbane raider Looks Like The Cat, recent San Domenico Stakes winner Nostradamus and promising All American colt Zebulon for Peter Morgan & Craig Widdison.
