Richie’s Vibe Pleases Beshara Ahead of The Heath

Performing well over his most recent racing preparation, trainer Paul Beshara is confident talented gelding Richie’s Vibe will hit full potential through the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival, beginning with this weekend’s Group 3 The Heath (1100m) at Caulfield Racecourse.

Securing an impressive total of five race wins and two minor places from just 13 competitive starts so far, Richie’s Vibe has not been seen at the races since failing to fire and 15th in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) on February 15th; a race dominated by the world’s leading sprinter Lankan Rupee.

Completing two particularly strong barrier trials in the lead-up to his racing return this weekend, Beshara said the Danerich gelding will progress to the featured Group 1 Moir Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 26th.

“He went super in his trial last Friday at Gawler and he’s really coming along well. He should be hard to beat on Saturday and then he’ll go to the Bobbie Lewis and then the Moir, which is his main aim,” Beshara told TVN.

“He had quite a long preparation, winning in August and racing right through the spring and into the summer.

“I’m sure he’s improved through the break.”

Returning to racing in the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival for a near-three length victory in the Keluja BM90 (1200m) at his local Morphettville course, Richie’s Vibe finished second to It Is Written in the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m) on September 29th and continued to produce strong and consistent performances highlighted by second in the Listed Christmas Stakes (1200m) and victories in both the Listed MSS Security Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) over Summer; the latter without doubt his most impressive performance to date.

While allocated somewhat wide and awkward barrier 12, punters have already rallied behind Richie’s Vibe for success in The Heath, seeing the five-year-old cut in from opening odds of more than $10 to current register as tied $7 second-favourite and clear market move with leading online bookie
