My Sabeel Records Dominant 2014 Toy Show Quality

Veteran mare My Sabeel recorded her maiden win at Group level with a very impressive performance in the 2014 Toy Show Quality at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

My Sabeel was having her first race start at Group level after performing consistently in her past three starts at Rosehill Gardens and she clearly relished the heavy Royal Randwick track to pull well clear of the rest of the field in the final stages of the race.

Trainer Kevin Moses admitted after the race that he was unsure whether My Sabeel had the quality to win at Group level, but was clearly delighted that the daughter of Savabeel was able to record a valuable black type victory.

“I wouldn’t have put her in today because it was above her grade, but it is a Group 3 and she is worth so much more money now,” Moses said.

“I have a great lot of staff and everything is good.”

Jockey Glyn Schofield took out the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) on Tiger Tees earlier in the day and gave My Sabeel another stellar ride in the Toy Show Quality.

The popular hoop said that the fitness edge was key for My Sabeel Toy Show Quality and he confirmed that the seven-year-old had no problem getting through the wet Royal Randwick track.

“She travelled and she gets through the ground really well,” Schofield said.

“She was a fit horse and she has been carrying some big weights, but today she was down at the bottom, so there was a lot to like about her.

“The class was probably my query, whether she had it or not, but she certainly answered that.

“Every time that these mares can get a race of quality behind their name does add value, but the way that she won it today and put away a good field suggests that she probably a little bit untapped.”

Gypsy Diamond started the Toy Show Quality as a clear favourite, but she was settled towards the tail of the field in the early stages of the race and was unable to get into the finish, while Queen Of The Turf Stakes winner Diamond Drille and classy mare Thump failed to handle on the heavy track finished towards the tail of the field.

Leading online bookmaker Ladbrokes.com.au offered big odds for My Sabeel to win the Toy Show Quality and it is the best place to bet during the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.
