There are four black-type features on Caulfield’s PB Lawrence Stakes Day program this weekend including the $120,000 Listed Winslow Group Regal Roller Stakes (1200m).

Originally attracting a final field of nine hopes the handicap clash is down to eight hopes following the early scratching of #5 Territory.

Current favourite in the Regal Roller Stakes odds at is smart Adelaide-trained mare Thiamandi at $3.40 who has come up trumps with barrier two.

Joe Bowditch rides Lloyd Kennewell’s four-year-old daughter of Street Boss who is tipped to continue her ace Caulfield record with a third win at start number four here this weekend.

Last time out she made it three straight wins, back-to-back at Caulfield, when beating home Gig by two lengths in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m).

Another go at the track and distance from a gun gate and a drop back from 56kg to 54kg add up to Thiamandi being the deserving favourite.

She is followed closely in the Regal Roller Stakes betting markets then by triple Group 1 winner Moment Of Change ($3.80) first-up here for Peter Moody of Black Caviar fame.

A 1400m Caulfield specialist having won the CF Orr Stakes and Futurity Stakes during the autumn the Barley A Moment gelding carries the 62kg top weight on Saturday.

It’s a heavy impost and eight kilos more than Thiamandi so one would think he will be better next run in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) under weight-for-age conditions.

So will the top two battling for favouritism run the Regal Roller Stakes quinella?

Or is there an upset on the cards from another well backed runner such as perennial runner-up Hard Stride ($4.50), Moody’s other runner Club Command ($5.50) or Michael Moroney’s last start winner over the track and distance Jemerica ($9)?

#3 Thiamandi ($3.40)

She’s got the record at the track (3-2-0-0) to suggest the tight Caulfield circuit is how she likes it, in flying form this Street Boss mare has won three on the trot including the past two here, Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes win last time out on July 26 was super impressive, drops down in weight for this and meets the top weight eight kilos better off, that’s pretty hard to ignore as is her form and class.

#8 Hard Stride ($4.50)

It would be a freakish result for this Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra-trained Street Sense four-year-old to post his fifth straight second place finish on the weekend, but that’s what we’re tipping. The four-year-old has run three Moonee Valley seconds along with their Creswick Stakes one behind Pyrrolic this time in and also won over this track and distance back in May, has been up for a while but still firing and handles the give out of the track, barrier five and Craig Williams are also pluses.

#2 Pillar Of Creation ($9.50)

Think the Ellerton & Zahra combo can see two in the trifecta if Moment Of Change doesn’t handle the kilos. Good price on this God’s Own gelding who has had a little freshen-up after running fifth in the All Victorian Sprint Final. Before that he won back-to-back races including over 1400m at Caulfield carrying 57kg which is also they weight he had last time out on July 12. Back down on 54.5kg on Saturday from barrier one so will be looking to lead all the way and can hang on for top three if ridden right by Damian Lane.
