Mick Price plays a very strong hand across the PB Lawrence Stakes Day program at Caulfield on Saturday including in the Quezette Stakes 2014 with clear favourite Royal Snitzel.

One of 12 three-year-old fillies facing off in this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Lister Quezette Stakes (1100m), Royal Snitzel comes into the race undefeated.

She pays $2.90 as the dominant favourite and market mover in the Quezette Stakes odds at, the daughter of Snitzel shooting for her third win on the trot.

Drawn in barrier six with Dale Smith to ride the Golden Rose and Thousand Guineas nominated filly was last seen winning over the same track and distance on July 5.

Smith was aboard that day, Royal Snitzel defeating Zeletto by a half length, and also rode her to a nice two and a half length victory on debut at Donald in June.

Price also saddles-up the top two fancies in the markets for the colts-and-geldings’ equivalent with Nordic Empire and Jabali dominating odds for the $150,000 Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m).

After Royal Snitzel, who pays $21 in the futures markets for both the $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) in Sydney next month and October’s $500,000 Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) back at Caulfield, it is a fairly open affair.

Four of the favourite’s rivals are also under $10 to win with:

  • #1 London Lolly ($6) – Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes-trained Charge Forward filly has won two of her three starts, after her third on the trot here and both of those wins were autumn black-types, a Listed effort at Moonee Valley two back was followed by a victory over subsequent Group 1 Champagne Stakes winner Go Indy Go in the Group 3 Breeders Stakes in Adelaide so the firm is there
  • #7 Novel Dancer ($7) – Wide barrier 10 draw to overcome but nice lead-up form from Shea Eden’s Written Tycoon filly who has won both of her career starts, most recently at Mornington on May 28 over 1200m, did it that day from barrier 10 so can adapt and will be better over more distance later if can handle the class
  • #2 Sunset Rock ($7.50) – First-up run from Lloyd Kennewell’s Adelaide visitor, this daughter of Domesday has run top two in both of her starts so far most recently winning a Listed race at home on in early March, good trial when second behind Get The Nod at Morphettville over 1000m in the wet at the start of the month to help bring her up to race fitness and the stable is flying
  • #10 Kalabeck ($8.50) – Damien Oliver has the ride on this Wanted filly who has the inside running from barrier one, failed at Doomben last time out when 11th to Tales Of Fashion but won first-up at Caulfield before that in April which she’s out to do again

Outside of this the markets open up with the next best in betting at double figures being Craig Williams’ mount Empress O’Reilly ($14) in barrier three for local horseman Robert Smerdon.
