Due to jump as Melbourne Race 6 at 3:20pm there are a dozen three-year-old fillies making up the field for this year’s edition of the $150,000 Group 3 Lister Quezette Stakes (1100m).

Leading the acceptances as the top-rated hopes is the Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes-trained London Lolly.

Drawn in barrier eight with Dwayne Dunn to ride, the consistent daughter of Charge Forward has won two of her four starts to date including a Group 3 in Adelaide during the autumn.

That was on March 29 in the Breeders’ Stakes over 1200m at Morphettville and followed 15 days on from her other black-type win in the Listed St Albans Stakes over the same distance at Moonee Valley.

First-up on the weekend she’s well liked in the markets being proven over the distance and nominated for the $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) in Sydney next month.

Joining London Lolly up the top of the Quezette Stakes field for Saturday is then three other last start winners including the Lloyd Kennewell-trained Sunset Rock.

Over from Adelaide the Domesday filly is also first-up here in her interstate debut following a win in the Listed Cinderella Stakes (1050m) back home over subsequent Group 1 Champagne Stakes winner in Sydney Go Indy Go.

Drawn one outside of Sunset Rock (barrier five) is then Mick Price’s very promising Snitzel filly Royal Snitzel who is undefeated going into Saturday’s showdown.

She debuted with a win at Donald on June 19 before coming to the big city at Caulfield over 1100m on July 5 for a half length win she’s out to repeat here ahead of a possible shot at the $500,000 Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) on October 11.

Also coming off a win but drawn out wide in barrier 11 is the Robbie Griffiths-trained Down The Hatch.

Craig Newitt replaces Josh Cartwright in the saddle of this Flying Spur filly who has won her past two races including an August 2 effort at Moonee Valley, Saturday her distance test going up to 1200m for the first time on the back of that effort.

With so many flying fillies in the mix it is sure to be a tight market for the Quezette this year with other notable hopes being Empress O’Reilly drawn in barrier three with Craig Williams to ride, Novel Dancer after their third win from as many starts and Glen Boss’ mount in the outside barrier All Sewn Up for local trainer Byron Cozamanis.
