Harrison to Continue Boom Affiliation Through Spring

Securing some particularly impressive results when partnering the rising eight-year-old through the 2014 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, jockey Tegan Harrison has been confirmed to retain the ride on Temple Of Boom through the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.

Partnering Temple Of Boom over four starts through winter, Harrison guided the Group 1 champion to glory in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) first-up, fourth in the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) and second in both the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) and featured Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m); a race for which at first glance she had appeared to have taken out.

Understandably thrilled with the four race partnership through winter, trainer Tony Gollan said he is not disappointed in finishing second in the Stradbroke Handicap, and Tegan has more than justified her position aboard the Piccolo gelding.

“I can’t fault Tegan for getting beaten in the Stradbroke, he ran great, and no-one would have thought he could run that well in the Stradbroke,” Gollan told the Courier Mail.

“She has never ridden interstate for me but she is going great and I think she deserves her chance to go down there now.

“I don’t really want to put a Melbourne jockey on Temple Of Boom and the owners are really good with that sort of stuff.

“Temple has been running really well for Tegan. He is eight years old next week yet he will go to Melbourne in the best winter form of his life.”

Yet to confirm a major target for Temple Of Boom through spring, Gollan said the Group 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington on September 13th is likely to mark the veteran sprinter’s return to the track.

“Temple knows the straight very well and he will be the perfect horse for her to ride in her first straight race in Melbourne. She will enjoy it,” He said.

Securing 11 victories and 14 minor places from 51 competitive starts so far, Temple Of Boom will be without doubt one of the most experienced runners to contest events over the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.
