Running on to finish an impressive second to Fawkner in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 19th, Dandino displayed a keen turn of foot to finish a fighting fifth in the 2013 Melbourne Cup; three lengths off the pace of champion Fiorente.

The Principal of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, Darren Dance confirmed the Dansili entire will first head to the United States for a defence of his 2013 American St Leger (2714m) title on August 16th before heading directly to Australia to contest likely the same path as 2013.

“He is off to Arlington for the St Leger on the 16th of August and Marco (Botti, trainer) is saying that he is in good form and probably a little bit better than last season,” Dance told Racing Ahead.

“We just need a firm track to show everyone that this is the case.”

Securing an impressive total of eight wins and ten minor places from just 29 competitive race starts so far, Dandino completed a short yet particularly consistent five race preparation in 2013, beginning with an unlucky run for second in the Group 2 Qatar Bloodstock Jockey Club Stakes (2414m) on May 4th.

Overcoming poor running position to again finish second in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes (2414m) on Royal Ascot on June 22nd, the stallion out of Generous Diana strolled home to win the American St Leger by close to a length before travelling to Australia for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

Aiming to go one better in the 2014 edition of the Caulfield Cup, Dandino is currently offered at generous odds of $34 for success on October 18th; sharing the sixth line of betting eleven possible opponents with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

The Melbourne Cup again featuring as the major target upon his return to Australian racing, Dandino is currently available at a quote of $34 to win the Race that Stops a Nation.
