2014 A.R. Creswick Series Final Field Released

Fields are now out for all the black-type races at Flemington’s Finals Day this weekend including those for the three-year-olds’ A.R. Creswick Stakes 2014.

Running as Flemington Race 7 at 4:10pm, this year’s $120,000 Listed A.R. Creswick Series Final (1200m) features 16 hopefuls including four last start winners.

The top rated of those coming off a win is the Stephen Browne-trained Kievann drawn in barrier five and allocated the equal 58.5kg top weight with the Robert Smerdon-trained Under The Louvre.

Niello gelding Kievann has won their past two on the trot over this distance at Moonee Valley, most recently in a three-year-olds handicap on June 21 where they had just a nose to spare over Hard Stride.

Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra’s local Street Sense three-year-old Hard Stride is also set to back-up in the Creswick Final on the weekend.

They won at Caulfield back in May before running second in their two most recent runs behind Kievann.

Hard Stride will get a third shot at turning the tables on them then on Saturday having drawn one outside of them in barrier six with Damian Lane replacing Katelyn Mallyon in the saddle.

The others coming off a win are then Beleeup, Prix D’or and Street Allure.

Drawn out wide in barrier 15, John McArdle’s Bel Esprit gelding Beleeup won a heat over 1100m by a narrow margin two weeks ago as a 60-1 roughie and is should appreciate getting up out over more distance.

The Robbie Griffiths-trained Prix D’Or meanwhile has won their past three straight, the son of Redoute’s Choice undefeated this year thanks to their victories on the synthetic track at Geelong.

It’s been a nice form turnaround since they were gelded and they’ve won up to 1300m.

They drop back in distance on Saturday though and go up from 52.5kg last start to 56kg but carried 59kg to victory before that over 1100m so still look a top chance.

Street Allure is also enjoying a purple patch of form having won their past three on the trot for trainer Darren Weir.

The Street Boss filly was last seen beating a field of her own kind by a narrow margin at Moonee Valley on June 21, before which she thrived at Sandown Lakeside to win by three lengths in a Benchmark 78.

Michelle Payne retains the ride on Saturday then as Street allure is tested against the boys.

Other notable AR Creswick Final hopes coming off nice lead-up form then include Search Squad (barrier two) coming off back-to-back seconds over 1400m, the Tony McEvoy-trained Sebring filly Bring A Ring with the rails draw and The Monstar for Brett Cavanough out in barrier 12 who ran third to Beleeup last start.
