Tattersall’s Tiara Day Fields – 2014 Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes

Two-year-olds that were just off the top performers of the season get a chance for some Black Type in the closing Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival meeting when racing in Saturday’s Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes 2014.

Kicking off stakes racing on Tattersall’s Tiara Day at Eagle Farm Racecourse on the weekend this year’s $100,000 Listed Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes (1400m) runs as race three at 1:20pm.

Eleven juveniles make up the field including the Paul Messara-trained Limehills out to break their maiden status.

Draw in barrier seven with Jim Byrne in the saddle the Scone-based Redoute’s Choice colt has had two runs for two second place finishes to date.

The most recent of those was behind the Gai Waterhouse-trained Sports Edition in the Listed Hampden Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on June 7, an effort they’ll be out to go one better than here.

Also coming via the Hampden Stakes meanwhile is the fourth placed Real Saga filly Rich Reward, Paul Butterworth’s locally-trained hope having run just one and a quarter lengths off the winner.

Waterhouse will shoot for another two-year-olds’ stakes win in the Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes meanwhile having accepted for Bayrock (barrier five).

They are one of the rides for Tommy Berry on Saturday, the in-form hoop over from Hong Kong for the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara mount on Waterhouse’s Dane Ripper Stakes winner Cosmic Endeavour.

Fastnet Rock filly Bayrock races for the third time here and is also after their maiden win, their most recent outing producing a second over 1200m at Randwick in the mud a fortnight ago.

Another youngster coming via a nice Black Type lead-up like Limehills is the well-tried Pat Duff-trained local Our Rock O’Reilly.

The Murtajill colt was a distant 11th to Pinch River in the Listed Dalrello Stakes (1200m) at Doomben two back but appreciated the roomier Eagle Farm track last time out on Oaks Day when third to Lucky Tom in the Listed The Phoenix (1400m).

The Phoenix was also the lead-up race for Kelso Wood’s Stratum filly Elitist who ran fifth on the back of a third to Tales Of Fashion in the Listed Lancaster Stakes (1200m0 at Doomben.

Other notable hopes then include the Kelly Schweida-trained up-and-comer Homehill (barrier six) and last start Sunshine Coast winner over 1300m Ashgrovian (barrier three) to be ridden by Tegan Harrison.
