Platinum Rocker Primed for 2014 Dane Ripper

Perth-based trainer Simon Miller is expecting a polished performance from stable star Platinum Rocker in this weekend’s Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m), and is confident of carrying winning form into the season-ending Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on June 21st.

A standout performer in sprinting events in her native Western Australia which included an impressive run for second in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) on November 23rd, Platinum Rocker has contested just 15 competitive starts to date, but finds the 2014 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival as a rising seven-year-old after several notable setbacks stunted her early career.

Allocated the ideal barrier 2 for this weekend’s fillies and mares race, Miller told AAP he is confident the Love A Dane mare is ready for maiden Queensland glory in the Dane Ripper Stakes after two impressive runs for third in the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m) and Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) most recently.

“She always possessed the ability but lacked the strength to do it because of feet and knee troubles but that didn’t worry me because I always knew she had the ability,” Miller said.

“Now we are reaping the rewards because she is sounds and racing very well.

“Her main mission is the Tatt’s Tiara because that is set weights.

“She just needed the run the other day and it topped her off nicely but I thought it would be best to go back to the fillies and mares race.”

Securing an impressive total of eight race victories and a further five minor places from her 15 race starts to date, Platinum Rocker has received the ideal lead-up to the Dane Ripper Stakes, and is currently offered at generous odds of $12 for success at

Following the scratching of resounding pre-post favourite Catkins from the final field this morning, Cosmic Endeavour has shot to favouritism, offering at odds of $4.60 to claim the Dane Ripper crown, ahead of Driefontein ($6), Belle De Coeur ($6.50) and Peron ($7).
