2014 BRC Sires Produce Stakes Tips

The 2014 BRC Sires Produce Stakes is one of the feature events at Doomben this Saturday and is set to be a key lead-up race for the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m) that will be held at Eagle Farm on June 7.

Brazen Beau stamped himself as the leading contender for the J.J. Atkins with a convincing victory in the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben on May 10 and is a clear favourite in 2014 BRC Sires Produce Stakes betting markets.

Looks Like The Cat ($6.50) was having just his second race start in the Champagne Classic and produced a professional performance to finish second and there has been a sprinkling of support for the Tony Gollan-trained juvenile to turn-the-tables on Brazen Beau this weekend.

The other galloper that has been well supported in 2014 BRC Sires Produce Stakes betting markets is the undefeated Pressing, who is available at a quote of $6 after recording a dominant three and a half lengths win in the Listed Sky High Mt Dandenong Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on May 3.

Can Brazen Beau give Chris Waller a fourth victory in the BRC Sires Produce Stakes or can another two-year-old record an upset win? Our team of horse racing experts have analysed the complete form guide as well as the history of the race to come up with our 2014 BRC Sires Produce Stakes tips.

2014 BRC Sires Produce Stakes Tips

1st

#2 Brazen Beau ($2.20)

Chris Waller has an exceptional record in the BRC Sires Produce Stakes and Brazen Beau deserves his position on top of the betting market for the Group 1 event. Brazen Beau is stepping up to 1350 metres for the first time in his racing career, but looks as though he will relish the step-up in trip. If he can reproduce his Champagne Classic performance he will prove very difficult to beat.

2nd

#5 Looks Like The Cat ($6.50)

Looks Like The Cat had just his second race start in the Champagne Classic and according to trainer Tony Gollan has come on significantly from the run. The Husson gelding will need to find two lengths of improvement to turn-the-tables on Brazen Beau and may need a bit of luck from a wide gate, but is a fairly safe bet to finish in the placings.

3rd

#2 Pressing ($6)

Pressing is the wildcard in the 2014 BRC Sires Produce Stakes field as he has unexposed form, but based on his two performances to date cannot be ruled out as a winning chance. The Sebring colt is still on an upwards spiral and improved several lengths from his debut performance when he smashed the field in the Sky High Mt Dandenong Stakes. The two-year-old must be included in the exotics and may be worth a saver bet for those taking the short odds available for Brazen Beau.
