The Ciaron Maher-trained Srikandi has opened short priced favourite to win the Glenlogan Park Stakes 2014 at Doomben Racecourse this weekend and celebrate their sixth career win from seven starts.
Based in Victoria the Dubawi filly is one of 15 female gallopers making up the final field for the $150,000 Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) running this Saturday as Doomben Race 5 at 1:55pm.
She’s drawn out wide in barrier 14, Glen Boss to ride, but the bookies are taking zero chances installing her at the top of the Glenlogan Park Stakes odds at a quote of $2.80.
Only defeated once when second at Moonee Valley in February, Srikandi has won four on the trot including back-to-back Listed features this month.
The first was on a Heavy (8) Gold Coast track three weeks ago in the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m).
She then raced again last Saturday to take out the Listed Junamo Stakes (1200m), Boss aboard for both wins that have connections talking the Stradbroke Handicap 2014 talk for next month.
There are then three other fillies and mares joining Srikandi under $10 in the Glenlogan Park Stakes betting markets with:
- #2 Plucky Belle ($6.50) – Bookies don’t seem to mind the widely drawn in this race with this Peter Moody-trained mare out in the carpark with barrier 15 of 15, still she’s second pick in the markets after outstanding lead-up form with three top four runs at Group level this season including a G3 Darley Crown second at Hawkesbury last time out
- #4 Chintz ($7) – Joe Pride’s four-year-old Savabeel mare races in Australia for the first time here having come over from New Zealand where her form this year since losing their rider in January has been outstanding, four top three runs including a Group 3 win, a third in the G1 Thoroughbred Breeders Classic and G1 second last time out in the Easter Handicap over the mile at Ellerslie
- #1 Platinum Rocker ($7.50) – Simon Miller’s Perth raider carries equal 58.5kg topweight with Plucky Belle under the set weights plus penalties conditions but still a big chance from barrier six in their second-up run this prep, the Love A Dane six-year-old has been outstanding at home including their Group 1 second in the Railway Stakes to Luckygray in November, one run in this time at the Gold Coast when third in the Silk Stocking that they can improve on here
The Glenlogan Park Stakes market mover now at $10 meanwhile is Belle De Coeur in barrier eight with Michael Rodd to ride the Luke Price-trained four-year-old who has form around this type this season including her luckless Darley Crown fifth.
Other notable hopes representing good value at double figures then include La Pieta ($11) coming off a Silk Stocking second with the rails run, the Mick Price-trained Euclase Stakes runner-up in Adelaide last time out Jazz Song ($14) and Gai Waterhouse’s nicely bred filly Northern Glory ($15).
