Snitzerland Scratched From 2014 BTC Cup Field

Group 1 winning Snitzerland has been scratched from the 2014 BTC Cup and will be sent to the spelling paddock after pulling up sore following a gallop in Brisbane this morning.

Snitzerland was rated a steady $8 chance in 2014 BTC Cup betting markets, but trainer Gerald Ryan informed Racing Queensland stewards that the daughter of Snitzel would not take her place in the field after tearing a muscle in her shoulder.

“Gerald Ryan has advised RQ stewards that SNIZTERLAND is out of the BTC Cup after pulling up sore in the oftshoulder this morning,” Racing Queensland posted on Twitter.

Snitzerland started her autumn racing carnival campaign with her maiden Group 1 victory over a strong field in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on February 15 and was an unlucky second behind Villa Verde in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick on March 15.

The daughter of Snitzel was scratched from The Galaxy due to concerns about the wet track at Rosehill Gardens and those concerns were justified when she failed to fire on a wet track in the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 12.

Snitzerland returned to a semblance of her best form with a narrow third behind Temple Of Boom and Spirit Of Boom in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on April 26 and was considered one of the leading chance in the 2014 BTC Cup field.

The withdrawal of Snitzerland has made a number of chances to the 2014 BTC Cup betting market; with Buffering now an even money favourite to record his maiden Group 1 victory in his home state of Queensland.

William Reid Stakes winner Spirit Of Boom is now into a quote of $5, while Snitzerland’s stablemate Hot Snitzel and Victory Stakes winner Temple Of Boom are into $8.

Tiger Tees drifted significantly after the expected wet weather did not hit Brisbane overnight, but is back into 2014 BTC Cup odds of $9; with Famous Seamus ($18) and Peron ($19) remain the outsiders of the field.
