Capacity SA Fillies Classic 2014 Field Released

This Saturday in Adelaide a bumper day’s racing is scheduled for The Goodwood Day at Morphettville Racecourse including the 2014 SA Fillies Classic that has drawn a capacity field.

Every Faith

A full 16 starters will line-up in this year’s $115,000 Group 3 SA Fillies Classic (2500m) field, the three-year-old fillies’ feature to run as Race 2 at 12:30pm (local time).

The headline nominee, Schweppes Oaks runner-up Star Fashion, however has not been accepted for with trainer David Hayes instead opting to race her in the Listed Centaurea Stakes (2006m).

Former top Adelaide trainer Hayes, now based in Victoria, is still represented in the SA Fillies Classic field this year however by his daughter of New Approach Helen Of Rose coming off a sixth at Bendigo over 2200m.

There are three last start winners in the field this year meanwhile including the Anthony Freedman-trained Transit Moscow drawn well in gate two.

A grey daughter of Fastnet Rock, Transit Moscow was runner-up over 1900m at Geelong two back before returning to the track and distance just last Sunday for an impressive four and a quarter length win to earn her shot at the Adelaide Black Type this weekend.

The other last start winners in the mix are then the Peter Moody-trained Kept Woman and They Call Me Lisa for Moe-based trainer Peter Gelagotis.

The top rated SA Fillies Classic acceptor meanwhile is the Robert Smerdon-trained Every Faith drawn out wide in gate 13.

The Not A Single Doubt filly lines up for her 15th career start here on the back of a ninth in the Schweppes Oaks from a fortnight ago.

Two back she was a stakes winner over the miler at Morphettville and was beaten only three and a quarter in the Oaks which she drops down in class form for her run here.

Smerdon has also accepted for Rezoned, gate eight, the Zabeel filly bred to go the distance and do better than her Schweppes Oaks 11th last time out.

Also with multiple acceptors are father and son-in-law training team Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas.

They have paid up for both Schweppes Oaks seventh placed Artistic Lass and Too Cool To Fool, the latter to be ridden by apprentice hoop Jamie Kah.

Kah is back home after a stint with Darren Weir in Melbourne and also rides the Andrew Noblet-trained favourite Sistine Demon in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) on Saturday.
