Tango’s Daughter Dances into Adelaide Guineas 2014

Mick Price’s visiting Victorian-trained filly Tango’s Daughter will back-up in the 2014 Adelaide Guineas this Saturday following her narrow victory at Morphettville in the $175,000 Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) over the weekend.

Posting her third straight win the daughter of Redoute’s Choice proved the one to beat in the Queen Of The South Stakes as she stepped up to the mile for the first time in an impressive all-the-way effort.

After a second-up win at Sandown Lakeside in March, this month Tango’s Daughter has continued her winning form after travelling to South Australia.

Two back she enjoyed her maiden Black Type triumph when beating home Lady Lakshmi by a length in the Listed HC Nitschke Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville Parks.

Then at the course proper this Saturday gone she became a Group 2 winner with her long neck win over the Peter Moody-trained Floria saluting for the Queen Of The South punters.

Finishing off the trifecta a further length away third was then Craig Williams’ mount, the Lee & Shannon Hope-trained Vivi Veloce ($21).

While she handled another class rise in the Queen Of The South Stakes, things didn’t go exactly to plan in the run according to Tango’s Daughter’s jockey Dean Yendall.

“Ideally, we didn’t want to lead but I began too well,” Yendall told The Advertiser.

“Everything else was grabbing up straight away and I was going to be caught wide so I let her stride to the front and backed the tempo off and had a cheap run in front.

“It was a great effort I thought. She toughed it out.”

The Caulfield-based Price will continue to strike while the iron is hot with Tangos’ Daughter, putting her on the short seven day turnaround for a shot at this weekend’s Listed Adelaide Guineas (1600m) against the boys.

“She’s going to stay on now and go to the Adelaide Guineas next Saturday,” stable representative Chris Beig said on Saturday.

“She’s a pretty confident horse, as soon as she got here she was straight into her feed.”
