2014 All Aged Stakes Day Scratchings And Track Report

The Championships may be over, but there is still plenty of great racing in Sydney this weekend; with the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) headlining an eight race card that also features the Group 1 Champagne Stakes(1600m).

The Royal Randwick track dried out significantly during the week and looked on track to be rated in the good range, but showers in Sydney yesterday mean that the track has been downgraded to a slow six and the rail has been pushed out to nine metres.

There have been a few scratchings across the Royal Randwick program, with the All Aged Stakes the hardest hit, and the field sizes aren’t as large as recent weeks, but there is still set to be plenty of exciting racing.

Royal Randwick Track Report

  • Weather: Fine
  • Track Conditions: Slow 6
  • Penetrometer: 5.61
  • Rail: +3 2000m to 1400m, +9 remainder
  • Previous Rail: +6 metres entire circuit

The quality of the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) has been affected by scratchings; with Snitzerland, Steps In Time and Politeness all ruled out of the $400,000 event!

Snitzerland will instead run in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm in Brisbane, while Steps In Time suffered bruising to her hind heel and Politeness was found with mucus in her throat.

The Champagne Stakes, the other Group 1 event on the card, has not had any scratchings and ten juveniles are set to contest the final event of the two-year-old Triple Crown.
