2014 Queen Elizabeth Stakes Barrier Draw

The 2014 Queen Elizabeth Stakes barrier draw was conducted this afternoon; with leading chances Carlton House and Silent Achiever both drawing well for the Group 1 event at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Silent Achiever is rated one of the leading contenders for the 2014 Queen Elizabeth Stakes that will be run at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Carlton House is currently on top of 2014 Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting markets and his odds are set to firm after connections drew barrier five for the son of Street Cry at the barrier draw for the $4 million race this afternoon.

The talented entire is chasing his maiden win at Group 1 level, after being narrowly denied a win by equine superstar So You Think in the 2012 edition of the Group 1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (2011m), and found his best form with second place finishes in the Listed Parramatta Cup (1900m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 1 and the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at the same venue on March 22.

Silent Achiever ran down Carlton House to win the Ranvet Stakes and will be chasing her fifth straight victory when she jumps from barrier seven in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday.

The O’Reilly mare should receive a lovely run into the race from barrier seven and trainer Roger James is hopeful that his star galloper can improve on her fourth place finish behind Reliable Man in last year’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller has five runners in the 2014 Queen Elizabeth Stakes field and the majority of his gallopers are set to jump from the outside of the field.

The biggest loser from the 2014 Queen Elizabeth Stakes barrier draw was Doncaster Mile winner Sacred Falls, who will jump from the outside of the field after connections drew barrier 12 for talented four-year-old.

Sacred Falls will be stepping-up to 2000 metres for the first time since he finished second behind It’s A Dundeel in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) last year and will relish the expected heavy conditions at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Royal Descent had no luck from an outside barrier in the Doncaster Mile last weekend and will jump from a wide gate again in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday.

The Redoute’s Choice mare will be stepping up to 2000 metres for the first time this preparation and is chasing her first race win since she took out the 2012 Australian Oaks (2400m) in dominant fashion during the 2013 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

My Kingdom Of Fife was far from disgraced when tenth in the Doncaster Mile and connections were not particularly upset with barrier ten; with the veteran gelding expected to settle towards the tail of the field.

The nine-year-old won the 2011 Queen Elizabeth Stakes in just his second start in Australia and is aiming to become the first horse since Intergaze in 1999 to win the race on two occasions in non-consecutive years.

Enigmatic galloper Boban missed the Doncaster Mile and will be having his first race start in three weeks when he jumps from barrier nine in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday.

Boban will be stepping up to 2000 metres for the first time in his racing career and trainer Chris Waller is confident that the son of Bernardini will perform well, but is worried about how he will perform on a heavy track.

Hawkspur was the only Chris Waller-trained runner to drew a barrier towards the inside of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes field and he will jump from barrier four.

The big winner from the 2014 Queen Elizabeth Stakes barrier draw was five-time Group 1 winner It’s A Dundeel, who drew barrier one for what could be the final race start of his career.

It’s A Dundeel is yet to record a race win this preparation, but has performed well in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m), Ranvet Stakes and The BMW, and trainer Murray Baker is confident that the High Chaparral gelding is ready to fire in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes barrier draw.

Other key 2014 Queen Elizabeth Stakes barrier draws include 2012 Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon (barrier eight), Guy Walter-trained Toydini (barrier two), imported galloper Le Roi (barrier 3) and Caulfield Cup placegetter Dear Demi.
