Catkins A Dominant Emancipation Stakes Betting Favourite

Catkins is a clear favourite in 2014 Emancipation Stakes betting markets; with the Chris Waller-trained mare an odds-on chance to return to winning form in the Group 2 event at Rosehill Gardens this afternoon.

Catkins will carry the top-weight of 56 kilograms in the Emancipation Stakes, but is significantly favored by the set weights plus penalties conditions of the race and is currently available at Emancipation Stakes odds of $1.65.

The Dubawi mare started her 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign with a narrow win over Steps In Time in the Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on February 15 and romped home to take out the Group 3 Wiggle Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on March 8 in dominant fashion.

Catkins was well-backed in the lead-up to the Group 1 Coolmore Classic and battled home strongly to finish third despite carrying the top-weight of 58 kilograms.

Sharnee Rose ($9) is also backing up from the Coolmore Classic and is the only other mare in 2014 Emancipation Stakes betting markets that is available at single figure odds.

The Nadeem mare resumed with a fourth place finish in the Breeders Classic and was second in the Wiggle Stakes before finishing a reasonable seventh in the Coolmore Classic.

Floria is on the third line of Emancipation Stakes betting markets at odds of $10 and connections are hoping that she can return to her best form after finishing a disappointing eighth behind Text’N Hurley in the Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on March 21.

Gai Waterhouse-trained Diamond Drille is also available at Emancipation Stakes odds of $10 and is chasing her second straight win after coming from the back of the field to score a narrow win in the Group 3 The Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Royal Randwick on March 15.

Other Emancipation Stakes runners that have received a sprinkling of support include Lorna May ($14), You’re So Good ($14) and Wistful ($26).
