Atlante is currently a narrow favourite in 2014 Tulloch Stakes betting market; with the Fastnet Rock colt available at odds of $4 to record his maiden win in Australia in the Group 2 event this weekend.
The Murray Baker-trained galloper made his Australian racing debut with a second place finish behind Dissident in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 1 and was far from disgraced when sixth in the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 15.
Atlante was set to contest the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) last weekend, but he was scratched from the field due to concerns about how he would handle the wet track and he will get his first opportunity over 2000 meters in the Tulloch Stakes this weekend.
Battling for favouritism with Atlante in 2014 Tulloch Stakes betting markets is Gai Waterhouse-trained Pheidon, who has impressed an impressive record of three wins from just five career starts.
Pheidon made his racing debut with two straight wins at Wyong and Rosehill Gardens and finished second in the Inglis Bonus Handicap (1600m) at Royal Randwick on January 25 before finishing third in the Dunmain Handicap (1900m) at Canterbury on February 21.
The Al Maher gelding was taken to Melbourne for the Group 2 Alister Clarke Stakes (2040m) at Moonee Valley on March 14 and stamped himself as a leading Australian Derby contender with an impressive two lengths victory.
The only other runner that is available at single figure odds in 2014 Tulloch Stakes betting markets is Gerald Ryan-trained Koroibete, who is currently available at a quote of $8.
Koroibete resumed with an unlucky seventh in the Hobartville Stakes and never looked a winning chance when tenth in the Royal Randwick Guineas, but he is sure to relish the step-up to 2000 metres in the Tulloch Stakes this weekend.
Trainer Murray Baker will also have Show The World in the Group 2 event this weekend and the High Chaparral gelding is currently available at 2014 Tulloch Stakes odds of $10 to score the third race win of his career, but will need to improve after being outclassed in both the Royal Randwick Guineas and Rosehill Guineas.
Other horses that have received a sprinkling of support in 2014 Tulloch Stakes betting market include Anthony Cummings-trained Best Case ($12), last start winner Shikra ($12), Trent Busuttin-trained High Tec ($13) and Singing Flame ($16).
