2014 The BMW Betting Update – It’s A Dundeel Drifts

It’s A Dundeel has drifted significantly in 2014 The BMW betting markets after Racing New South Wales Stewards reported yesterday that the son of High Chaparralhad shown signs of lameness on Monday.

It’s A Dundeel was on the second line of 2014 The BMW betting markets, but is now out to a quote of $4.80; with punters wary that the five-time Group 1 winner may be suffering a recurrence of the hoof issues that disrupted his 2013 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

While It’s A Dundeel has drifted significantly, there has been plenty of support for imported stayer Fiorente who is now a clear favourite at odds of $3.20.

Fiorente started his autumn preparation with fast-finishing victories in both the Group 2 Peter Young Stakes (1800m) and Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m), but produced his worst performance since arriving in Australia when he finished seventh behind Silent Achiever in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 22.

Silent Achiever was available at lucrative odds heading into the Ranvet Stakes, but bookmakers are not underrating the consistent mare in The BMW betting markets and she is currently available at a quote of $4.60.

The O’Reilly mare performed consistently without winning during the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival, but has been undefeated since returning to the races; taking out the Retina Specialists Handicap (1500m), Group 1 New Zealand Stakes (2000m) and Ranvet Stakes.

Another mare that has been well-backed in 2014 The BMW betting markets is Voleuse De Coeurs, who is into odds of $11 after being available at a quote of $14 earlier in the week.

Voleuse De Coeurs has had just two starts in Australia, finishing 10th in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) and fifth in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m), and trainer Michael Moroney believes that the Teofilo mare is starting to reach her best form heading into The BMW this weekend.

2012 Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon has remained steady at his quote of $8 and is a genuine chance of scoring his maiden win at Group 1 weight-for-age level in the 2014 The BMW this weekend.

Green Moon returned to the races with a close fourth place finish in the Peter Young Stakes and pushed Fiorente all the way in the Australian Cup; with the Montjeu entire expected to relish the step-up to 2400 metres this weekend.
