2014 Golden Slipper Betting Update – Mossfun Continues To Shorten

Team Hawkes-trained Mossfun has been the clear market mover in 2014 Golden Slipper betting markets; with the talented filly now available at odds of $5.50.

Mossfun has received plenty of support following the Golden Slipper barrier draw on Tuesday and punters expect the Mossman filly to be assisted by the wet weather that is set to head Sydney this weekend after she scored a strong win in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) on a slow Rosehill Gardens track on March 1.

Darley filly Earthquake remains a clear favourite in 2014 Golden Slipper betting markets, but has continued to drift in the past 48 hours and is now available at a quote of $2.30.

Earthquake has recorded four wins from four starts since making her racing debut at the end of last year, including an impressive win in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), but there are now question marks over the daughter of Exceed And Excel after she was treated for a mild fever on Sunday.

Mossfun and Earthquake currently dominate the 2014 Golden Slipper betting markets; with Ghibellines on the third line of betting at odds of $12.

There was plenty of hype surrounding Ghibellines when he made his racing debut, after half-sister Guelph performed impressively last year, but he made a slow start to his career before scoring an upset victory at big odds in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 22.

Unencumbered has drifted in betting and is now available at the lucrative 2014 Golden Slippers odds of $14.

The Bjorn Baker-trained colt has already had eight starts as a juvenile, including wins in the Group 3 B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m) and $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m), and performed strongly when second in the Todman Stakes.

Also available at Golden Slipper Odds of $16 is Mick Price-trained Cornrow, who has raced well without winning since making his debut in the Inglis Banner (1000m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day last year.

The Duporth colt started his autumn campaign with a second place finish behind Mohave in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) and missed the placings in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) before returning to his best form in the Blue Diamond Stakes.

Cornrow had no luck before running on strongly to finish third in the Todman Stakes and trainer Mick Price is fairly bullish about his chances this weekend.

There has also been a sprinkling of support for Peter Moody-trained Bring Me The Maid ($13), while Darley outsider Memorial has been backed into Golden Slipper odds of $71 after being available at triple figure odds last night.
