Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The 2014 Sebring Stakes final field and barrier draw has been released; with veteran sprinter Temple Of Boom set to back-up in the Group 3 event at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
Temple Of Boom (barrier ten) contested the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens last Saturday and worked home fairly to finish sixth, but was found to have swallowed mud when he was examined after the race.
Trainer Tony Gollan said that the Piccolo gelding had pulled up from The Galaxy in excellent condition and will take his position in the 2014 Sebring Stakes field this Saturday.
Another galloper dropping back from Group 1 level to contest the Sebring Stakes this weekend is Gai Waterhouse-trained Bull Point (barrier one).
Bull Point started his autumn preparation with a win in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1200m), but failed to fire at Group 1 level; finishing fourth in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) and at the tail of the field in the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m).
Hot Snitzel (barrier five) won the 2013 edition of the Sebring Stakes in impressive fashion and will be chasing back-to-back wins in the Group 3 event on Saturday.
The Snitzel gelding has not been seen at the races since he finished second behind Lankan Rupee in the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on November 16 last year, but has previously performed well first-up; winning the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes (1200m) at the start of his 2012 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
Another horse returning to the races in the 2014 Sebring Stakes will be Graeme Begg-trained Bennetta (barrier two), who has not been seen at the races since she finished 13th behind Fontelina in the Group 2 Yellowglen Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on November 2.
The General Nediym mare has not scored a race win since she took out the Group 2 Light Finger Stakes (1200m) during the 2013 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, but she has a fair first-up record and according to Begg is in good condition heading into the Group 3 event.
Said Com (barrier nine) is the only other runner in the 2014 Sebring Stakes field that has not had a race start this preparation and is chasing his maiden win at Group level after finishing second in both the 2012 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m) and the 2012 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m).
Rounding out the 2014 Sebring Stakes field are Flamberge (barrier six), Dances On Stars (barrier seven), Title (barrier four), Lilliburlero (barrier three) and That’s A Good Idea (barrier eight).
