She may not be in line to jump favourite in her Golden Slipper Day assignment this Saturday, but the Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra-trained Solicit will be rocking the number one saddlecloth in this year’s 2014 Vinery Stud Stakes.

A bumper field of 16 starters plus three emergencies have been accepted for the $400,000 Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) this weekend, the three-year-old fillies’ classic to run as Rosehill Race 7 at 4:20pm (AEST).

One of the top-rated acceptors is Melbourne raider Solicit, the daughter of Street Cry racing in Sydney for the first time in career start number 11.

A close third in last year’s Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) during the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Solicit has had three runs this time in.

She won her opening two when putting three lengths on them in the Group 3 The Mittys Vanity (1400m) and then a length on Marianne in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m).

She could only manage to finish fourth behind Marianne however at her latest start, the Listed Alexandra Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on March 21.

Connections put that loss down to a less-than-aggressive ride from jockey Damian Lane who has been replaced by the in-form youngster Chad Schofield on Saturday.

Solicit will get her chance to turn the tables back on Marianne too as the Michael Kent-trained Alexandra Stakes winner has also been accepted for the Vinery.

Drawn in gate four, a barrier that hasn’t produced a Vinery Stud Stakes winner in over 30 years, Darci Brahma filly Marianne has run first or second in her past seven starts and looks another ace chance again here.

Also coming into the Vinery Stud Stakes field via the Alexandra Stakes in Melbourne is the Nigel Blackiston-trained runner-up Suavito.

She’s got a nasty barrier to overcome this weekend however drawing ate 17, coming into 15 if all three emergencies fail to get a run.

Prior to the Alexandra this consistent daughter of Thorn Park ran a nice first-up third in the Kewney and hasn’t finished worse than third in all seven of her starts so far making her a definite place chance again here.

The one the bookies were tipping for a win pre-Vinery Stud Stakes barrier draw meanwhile, the Guy Walter-trained Zanbagh, has also draw poorly.

The Bernardini filly, runner-up to Kirramosa in the Crown Oaks during the spring, has come up with the extreme outside barrier and so definitely has her work cut out for her.

She comes off a last start Group 3 Keith F Nolan Classic win at Kembla Grange however so is still in with a shot to retain her favouritism for the 2014 Australian Oaks on April 19.

Other last start winners in the mix include the John Sargent-trained New Zealand Oaks champ Miss Mossman drawn ideally in gate three with Nash Rawiller to ride for her Aussie debut and the Gary Portelli-trained All My Loving after their third on the trot who faces a massive class rise.

There are actually two New Zealand-trained fillies out for a Vinery win on the weekend too, Miss Mossman joined in the field by the Donna Logan-trained Rising Romance coming off a Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) second to Puccini.

Sydney’s top trainer Chris Waller meanwhile will be represented by a two up-and-comers, Define and All Cerise who both come via the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill from March 22 having run second and fourth respectively.
