The BMW to Determine Path For Voleuse De Coeurs

Preparing to saddle talented Irish import Voleuse De Coeurs in this weekend’s Group 1 The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill Gardens, trainer Mike Moroney has revealed the five-year-old is a possibility of lining up for the major Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on April 19th.

Originally nominated for at tilt at the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) with a long view to the Melbourne Cup on the first Tuesday of November, Moroney told TVN this afternoon there would be little point in taking the original route should Voleuse De Coeurs return to the winner’s circle this weekend.

“If she won The BMW there wouldn’t be any point in runner in the Sydney Cup” Moroney said.

“After all, the Melbourne Cup is her aim and if she was guaranteed a run in the race there wouldn’t be any point in runner her over the longer trip.

“We’d be able to freshen her and maybe come back to the 2000-metres of the Queen Elizabeth.”

Running a competitive 5th in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) behind champion stallion Fiorente first-up on March 8th, Voleuse De Coeurs completed a good piece of work at Moonee Valley on Saturday morning, building the confidence of both Moroney and confirmed jockey Glen Boss.

Beginning his racing career under the guidance of leading Irish trainer Dermot Weld, Voleuse De Coeurs produced a strong 2013 preparation before being transferred to Australia to contest the Melbourne Cup, winning the Listed Vintage Crop (2800m), finishing third in the Group 3 Curragh Cup (2800m), second in the Group 2 St Leger Trial (2800m) before undoubtedly claiming his biggest career win so far in the Group 1 Irish St Leger (2800m) on September 15th.

Voleuse De Coeurs is currently offering at a particularly generous quote of $21 for success in the 2014 The BMW this weekend; equal seventh favourite with classy stayer Sertorius.

Melbourne Cup Champion Fiorente and four-time Group 1 Winner It’s A Dundeel currently share the top line of wagering in The BMW betting markets at $4 odds.
