Hot Snitzel is a chance of making his return to the races at Rosehill Gardens this weekend after being included in the 2014 Sebring Stakes nominations.
Hot Snitzel won the 2013 edition of the Sebring Stakes in impressive fashion, but has not been seen at the races since he finish second behind Lankan Rupee in the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on November 16.
The Snitzel gelding contested a barrier trial over 900 metres at Rosehill Gardens on March 4 and finish fourth behind Meliora and won a trial at the same track and distance on March 21.
Queensland-based sprinter Temple Of Boom finished a credible sixth in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 29 and is a chance of backing up in the Sebring Stakes this weekend.
The Piccolo gelding remains a consistent performer at the highest level of racing, but has not recorded a race win since he took out the 2012 edition of The Galaxy.
Another horse that is set to back up from The Galaxy is New Zealand-trained mare Irish Fling who made her Australian racing debut in the Group 1 event last weekend.
Irish Fling took out the Group 1 Telegraph Handicap (1200m) in Trentham on January 18 at the start of her autumn campaign, but was clearly outclassed in the final stages of The Galaxy and finished at the tail of the field.
Arguably the most interesting galloper included in the 2014 Sebring Stakes nominations is Gai Waterhouse-trained colt Bull Point.
Bull Point started his autumn preparation with an impressive win in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 1 before finishing a slightly disappointing fourth when given every chance in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at the same venue on February 22.
The Fastnet Rock colt returned to Sydney for the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 15, but was fractious in the stalls and never looked comfortable during the run before finishing at the tail of the field.
Team Hawkes-trained Happy Galaxy, Standish Handicap winner Flamberge, David Payne-trained Lilliburlero and the Joseph Pride-trained duo of That’s A Good Idea and Title have also been included in the 2014 Sebring Stakes nominations.
