Peter Moody’s Group 1-bound mare Floria heads a smart line-up for the 2014 Sunline Stakes, the key support race on William Reid Stakes Night at Moonee Valley Racecourse on Friday evening.

Due to jump at 9:15pm (AEST) as Moonee Valley Race 6, this year’s $220,000 Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) has attracted a final field of 13 mares.

A number of those baker’s dozen are looking to earn a start in the $1 million Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m) at Royal Randwick on April 19, including Savabeel six-year-old Floria.

Currently rated a $51 chance in futures Queen Of The Turf Stakes markets, Floria has drawn the rails for Friday night due to jump from gate one with the stable’s number one jockey Luke Nolen aboard.

Winner of the Group 3 Summoned Stakes (1600m) at Caulfield last season the Group 1 performer will be second-up here following a good second to Five All in the Group 3 Tressday Stakes (1400m) at Flemington from March 1.

Also drawn well in the Sunline Stakes barrier draw this Melbourne Festival of Racing are the Nigel Blackiston-trained You’re So Good (barrier two) and Gwenda Johnstone’s flying Precious Gem (barrier five).

You’re So Good is after their first win of the new year after two close seconds this time in at Flemington and then Morphettville’s Matrice Stakes on March 10.

The Echuca-based Precious Gem meanwhile has won her past three straight, the Enconsul four-year-old after a quartet on the weekend.

Her last two wins have been over the Moonee Valley mile so she’ll likely be top of the Sunline Stakes odds as she shoots for another at the track and distance here.

Other notable Sunline Stakes hopefuls this year include Neville Parnham’s WA raider Bippo No Bungus who comes via a Schweppervescence Stakes third over the 1600m at Flemington from March 8, runner-up in that race on the back of a Moonee Valley win over Crucial Text’n Hurley and Are There Any for Peter Moody who ran fourth in the Schweppervescence last time out.
