The Peter Snowden-trained red hot favourite for next month’s $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), Earthquake dominates nominations for her lead-up race in the Reisling Stakes 2014 this weekend.

One of the two 2014 Golden Slipper Stakes preparatory races on the Rosehill race card for Saturday along with the $300,000 Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) for the colts and geldings, the $300,000 Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) has drawn 13 early entries.

Nominations for both the juvenile features have been extended however until 11:00am (AEST) tomorrow.

The current Reisling Stakes nominations are led by Exceed And Excel filly Earthquake who is the clear $2.75 favourite in pre-post Golden Slipper odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.

She earned her short price in the markets after winning her opening three career starts, most recently the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) from a wide draw (15 of 16) at Caulfield on February 22.

Nothing has looked to threaten her leading up to the Slipper as yet either, with Saturday set to be her maiden Sydney run.

Second favourite for the Golden Slipper title this year is then Mossfun ($8), the Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained filly also set to run in the Reisling on the weekend.

The daughter of Mossman is also unbeaten with a record reading three from three including a Group race double at Rosehill this season.

A win in the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m) set her Slipper dreams in motion with Mossfun returning on March 1 to score an emphatic four length victory in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) where she relished the wet ground.

The next best fancied Slipper-bound fillies nominated for the weekend’s clash are then a stable mate to the favourite Memorial ($17) coming via a Lonhro Plate second from March 8, the Danny Bougoure-trained Queenslander Oakleigh Girl ($26) last seen running second to Unencumbered in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast in January and the Gai Waterhouse-trained Sweet Embrace Stakes runner-up from last Saturday Twirl ($41).

Twirl’s trainer Waterhouse has already enjoyed an incredible five Golden Slipper victories and is looking to make it six this autumn.

She’s also nominated for Sheezalady in Saturday’s Reisling Stakes, the daughter of Duporth having had just the one run when second on debut at Randwick’s Kensington track from February 26.

Other notable hopes in the race then include Listed Lonhro Plate winner Alpha Miss, the Gerald Ryan-trained Black Opal Stakes winner Lucky Raquie and their stable mate Ygritte.

Snitzel filly Ygritte won their Kembla Grange debut in February before two close seconds firstly behind Mossfun in the Widden and then behind Clifton Red in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington from March 8.

See below for the current Reisling Stakes 2014 nominations that will be narrowed down into the final field on Wednesday morning.

Now is the perfect time to place your early Golden Slipper Stakes bets before markets firm following the Coolmore Classic Day results this weekend, so head to Ladbrokes.com.au to get in on the action!
