2014 Skyline Stakes Enters Final Betting Hour – Tips

There’s still time to jump online and place a winning bet for the opening race of today’s strong Royal Randwick race card; the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m), which will feature just eight runners.

Having produced a strong start to his racing career, Gai Waterhouse-trained Giuliani look likely to jump as outright $3.10 favourite for the 2014 Skyline Stakes ahead of market mover Gold Force ($3), stable mate Valentia ($3.90) and Time For War; the only other runner featured at a quote of less-than $10, currently offering $8.50.

Can one of Gai’ chances deliver the leading trainer another Group 2 title, or will one of their talented adversaries cross the Skyline Stakes finish line in the clear?

1st

Gold Force ($3.30)

While only contesting the one race start to date, exciting prospect Gold Force was impressive when strolling home by nearly three lengths ahead of Modoc and Fontein Ruby in the Inglis Premier (1200m) on February 12th. Having drawn the ideal barrier 3 for the Skyline Stakes, Gold Force will be partnered by in-form jockey James McDonald and offers punters excellent value at $3.30 for a win this afternoon.

2nd

Mr Bogart ($26)

Despite finishing fifth in his only race start to date, Anthony Cummings-trained Mr Bogart is likely to receive the ride of the race in this afternoon’s Skyline Stakes, having drawn the ideal barrier 1. Adding to the classy Northern Meteor colt’s claims, leading jockey Damien Oliver will take the ride, offering punters incredible value at $26 ($5.80 for a place).

3rd

Valentia ($3.90)

Talented colt Valentia has quickly risen to the task in his short racing career so far, finishing a competitive third behind boom colt Rubick and classy filly Twirl in the TAB Iphone App Plate (1000m) on debut before comfortably claiming the Ritz Cinema Handicap (1200m) last time out. Having drawn the central barrier 5, Valentia will be partnered by jockey Tommy Berry and will be tough to beat if in good position rounding the final bend.
