Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Having initially featured a final field of 15, the 2014 Group 3 Roy Higgins Tribute Quality will now see just 13 hopefuls line up on the 1200 metre course at Royal Randwick this weekend after leading contender Driefontein and Saturn Rock were removed to contest alternate events over the coming weeks.
The removal of Driefontein in particular has blown Roy Higgins Tribute betting markets wide open, offering punters several opportunities to place a winning bet at particularly generous odds.
Having returned to the track in good form this preparation, A Time For Julia is currently featuring as $3.60 favourite and undoubted market mover for 2014 Roy Higgins Tribute success ahead of Lilliburlero ($4.80) and a huge leap to Angel Bee and Pentasia, sharing the third line of betting at a huge quote of $10.
Is A Time Fore Julia a shoe-in for Roy Higgins Tribute success, or will Lilliburlero spoil her party?
Having produced an up-and-down preparation in 2013, classy four-year-old Lilliburlero has returned to the track in peak condition in 2014, producing a strong turn o foot to claim the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) first-up over a talented field, many of whom also feature in the final field for the Roy Higgins Tribute. Not a lot separates the form of the talented Redoute’s Choice mare and punters’ pick A Time For Julia, however a far-superior barrier draw has meant Lilliburlero will likely receive the run of the race.
A Time For Julia ($3.60)
A Time For Julia has secured three wins and four places from only nine race starts to date, and has returned to the track this season in typically sharp form, comfortably claiming the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) first-up before finishing a competitive second behind Red Tracer in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes most recently. Despite drawing the somewhat awkward barrier 12, trainer Peter Moody is confident the exciting daughter of Redoute’s Choice will continue her strong start to 2014 in the Roy Higgins Tribute.
Recording two wins and seven places over her 17 race career so far, four-year-old Recoinage enters the 2014 Roy Higgins Tribute as one of the most experienced runners, and will be aiming to continue a good patch of form that has delivered one win and three seconds in six starts this preparation, including playing runner-up to Lilliburlero in the Triscay Stakes most recently. Despite drawing the slightly awkward barrier 9, Recoinage offers incredible value to punters at her current odds of $11.
