2014 Aspiration Quality Betting Preview and Tips

The 2014 Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m) will feature amongst a particularly strong Royal Randwick race card this Saturday, and currently offers punters several key opportunities to place a winning bet.

Having returned to the track in scintillating form this preparation, classy filly Forever Loved is currently featuring as outright $4.20 favourite for 2014 Aspiration Quality success ahead of Lucky Lago ($4.40), Any Day Will Do ($6) and Express Power ($7.50).

Will Forever Loved continue to build on her strong start to the season, or will one of her 12 opponents cause the day’s first major upset?

1st

Any Day Will Do ($6)

Amassing four wins and five places from only 13 race starts to date, Any Day Will Do was undoubtedly the biggest winner at Wednesday’s Aspiration Quality barrier draws, having been allocated the ideal gate 1, one place inside fellow frontrunner Express Power. While unable to pose much of a threat in any of her three 2014 races so far, trainer Guy Walter is expecting a far-more polished run from the Any Given Saturday mare this weekend.

2nd

Lucky Lago ($4.40)

Lucky Lago will face a test from the outset in this weekend’s Aspiration Quality after drawing the slightly wide barrier 8. The talented Encosta De Lago mare was undoubtedly one of the most consistent performers over the 2013 autumn, and while unable to continue the impressive run through the spring racing carnival, has returned to the track in 2014 in competitive form, finishing third behind star sprinter Red Tracer and A Time For Julia in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) first-up. Regular jockey Jim Cassidy has been confirmed to take this ride this weekend, and is confident of another strong result second-up.

3rd

Mahara ($9)

Mahara carries a two-race winning streak into this weekend’s Aspiration Quality, and offers punters incredible value for victory at a current quote of $9. While yet to contest a race at Group level, the talented Hussonet mare has secured three wins and a place in four starts this prepration, most notably strolling home to win the Tooheys Plate Maiden (1200m) by two lengths first-up. Having opened at particularly generous odds of $15, Mahara received huge attention from punters in the first 48 hours of betting and has registered as clear market mover for this weekend’s Group 3.
