Having returned to the track in top order this preparation, classy mare Catkins is currently featured as the outright $2 favourite for the 2014 Wiggle Stakes, ahead of Fire Up Fifi ($7), Any Day Will Do ($8.50) and She’s Clean ($9).

Will Catkins justify favouritism in 2014 Wiggle Stakes betting markets and continue her perfect start to 2014, or can one of her classy opponents cause an upset?

1st

Catkins ($2)

Catkins has produced a particularly sparkling racing career so far, claiming an impressive nine wins and six places from only 17 starts. Finishing no worse than third in a very consistent 2013 spring, the exciting Dubawi mare was unlucky to finish second by a nose to Red Tracer in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) on November second, before returning to the track on February 15th to claim the Group 2 Breeders’ Classic (1200m) from Steps In Time. Having drawn the ideal barrier six, Catkins is in prime position to continue her incredible run of form.

2nd

Dear Demi ($21)

Dear Demi was unlucky not to claim a Group 1 title over the spring of 2013, particularly when second behind Side Glance in the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) on November 2nd.  Having amassed six wins and 11 places from 29 starts to date, trainer Clarry Conners has been happy with the form shown by the classy Dehere mare in two strong barrier trials so far this year, and is confident of a successful first-up run in the Wiggle Stakes. Allocated barrier 5 for today’s Group 3, Dear Demi represents incredible value to punters at a quote of $21.

3rd

Fire Up Fifi ($7)

Despite finishing sixth in the Listed Falvelon (1200m) first-up at Eagle Farm on February 22nd, punters have jumped on a starting price of $12 for Fire Up Fifi; registering the six-year-old as the undoubtable $7 market mover. Claiming 12 wins from 35 race starts to date, Fire Up Fifi is the most experienced horse of any accepted to run in the 2014 Wiggle Stakes, and is building towards appearances in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) and Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) in April.
