2014 Newmarket Handicap Day Scratchings And Track Report

Super Saturday is one of the biggest days on the Australian racing calendar and there is plenty of exciting racing right across the Flemington card; headlined by the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) and Group 1 Australian Cup(2000m).

Shamexpress will defend his title in the 2014 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington this afternoon.

There have been no scratchings from either of the Group 1 events this afternoon and the Flemington track looks an absolute treat.

Flemington Track Report

  • Weather: Fine
  • Track Conditions: Good (3)
  • Penetrometer: 4.83
  • Rail: True
  • Previous Rail: True (1/3/2014)

The excellent track conditions means that the full field of 15 runners will contest the 2014 Newmarket Handicap and you can make a case for just about every horse in the race.

Lankan Rupee ($4.80), Samaready ($4.80) and Shamexpress ($4.80) are all currently locked in a battle for favouritism and there has also been some support for Knoydart ($11), Unpretentious ($15) and Spirit Of Boom ($16).

Leading online bookmaker Ladbrokes.com.au has taken the tough decision out of the hands of punters and is offering a Newmarket Trio Special that will pay out at odds of $3 if either Samaready, Lankan Rupee or Shamexpress wins the Group 1 event.

The complete 2014 Super Saturday scratchings can be found below and don’t forget to check out the Newmarket Trio Special once you have analysed the form for the feature sprint.
