El Roca Clear Favourite in 2014 Liverpool City Cup Betting Markets

Punters have responded to a resounding first-up win in the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) and instilled El Roca as outright favourite for this weekend’s Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Warwick Farm, at a quote of $3.30.

Having accepted a position in the final field for the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens last weekend, course stewards found El Roca had received a banned treatment the previous Friday and promptly removed him from the race, for which he had figured as resounding favourite.

While disappointed by the situation, trainer Trent Busuttin has re-geared the exciting Fastnet Rock colt’s autumn preparation to include this weekend’s Liverpool City Cup, and has been given every opportunity to continue the so-far perfect start to 2014 having drawn the central barrier 7.

John O’Shea-trained White Sage has claimed an impressive five wins from only six starts since debuting on track in May, including the Listed Festival Stakes (1500m) on November 30th.

Despite registering her first hiccup when third behind Catkins and Steps In Time in the Group 2 Breeders’ Classic (1200m) on February 15th most recently, Punters have wagered a substantial number of bets for the Reset filly, who will have to overcome the wide barrier 12 on Saturday.

Currently featuring as the only other runner in the 2014 Liverpool City Cup final field to be offered at a quote of less-than $10, Terravista has scored five wins from only seven starts including a comfortably victory over Albrecht and My Destiny in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) most recently.

Trainer Joseph Pride has an understandably high opinion of the exciting gelding, as is particularly confident of continue a so-far perfect start to 2014 in the Liverpool City Cup despite drawing barrier 9.

After opening at a particularly generous quote of $27, punters have jumped all over Riva De Lago and instilled the six-year-old as the undoubted $21 market mover.

Having recorded a consistent 2013 autumn preparation, the son of Encosta De Lago will leave from the ideal barrier 3 with veteran jockey Jim Cassidy on board.
